That was a rough press conference for Bush. Plenty of great moments--I can't wait to see what the Daily Show makes of it...
Posted by Joe Hughes at April 13, 2004 09:37 PM | TrackBackI don't really bother watching his public appearances any more. They're carefully scripted, I know what he's going to say, and the poodle gallery has stopped lobbing softballs and is resorting to T-ball.
His relaxing trip to Crawford this past week while soldiers were dying pretty much sealed it for me. President Vacation has nothing more to say to me.
If those awkward silences and moments of confused stammering were scripted, we're in worse shape than I thought. I know what you're saying, I usually can't stand watching him either, but the questions were a bit better last night (even if he didn't actually answer most of them). And he actually complained that he didn't have a script for at least one of them!

"I'm sure somethin will pop into my head in the midst of the pressure of the press conference but it hadn't yet." "You just put me under the spot here."
I have to admit I actually prefer Bush to Kerry, but goddamn this guy can't speak in front of people.
