I just realized that I didn’t make an entry for the Southern California fires
So…the school wasn’t burnt, although everything got covered in white ash, and instead of getting dark when the sun went down, the sky just turned orange. We closed down for a week, and I packed up and self-evacuated to Bin’s place in LA. Looking back, it’s kind of funny to think of that stream of wealthy refugees from the suburbs, fleeing back into the city.
At the height of it, a local right-wing radio host was driven to tears, trying to expound on the sheer horror of the destruction by fire of privately owned land. “This is about ownership, about property, it’s given to us by God, it’s something that insurance money can never replace!” He was actually weeping on-air. I think I understand this place a little better now, anyway.
